Your OnliSoft system is designed for minimal maintenance. Here's everything you need to know about keeping it running at peak performance for years to come.
OnliSoft Media: Lifetime, No Replacement Needed
The OnliSoft uses SAC (Scale Arrest Crystallization) media that lasts the lifetime of the system. Unlike salt-based softeners that need regular salt refills, the OnliSoft media converts hardness minerals into microscopic crystals that won't stick to your pipes or appliances. No bags of salt. No regeneration cycles. No media replacement — ever.
⚠️ Critical: Soak Media Before Installation
Before installing your OnliSoft system, you must soak the media for at least 2 full days (48 hours) in water. This activates the SAC media and ensures proper crystallization from day one. Skipping this step will reduce effectiveness. Follow the instructions included with your system carefully.
ZEE Pro Sediment Pre-Filter Replacement Schedule
Your OnliSoft includes a ZEE Pro sediment pre-filter that protects the main media from sediment, dirt, and particles. Replacement frequency depends on your model and water conditions:
- OS8 / OS9: Replace every 12 months
- OS10: Replace every 9–12 months
- OS13: Replace every 6–9 months
If you notice reduced water pressure or flow, check the pre-filter first — it may need replacing sooner, especially if your water has high sediment levels.
OnliSoft Pro: Carbon Filter Replacement
The OnliSoft Pro adds a whole-house carbon filtration stage that removes chlorine, chloramines, and other chemicals. Here's what to know:
- Capacity: 500,000 to 1,000,000 gallons (depending on water quality)
- Typical lifespan: ~10 years for most households
- Backwash cycle: Runs automatically on a set schedule to clean and redistribute the carbon media — no action needed from you
You don't need to think about this filter for years. When it's time, you'll notice a gradual return of chlorine taste or smell in your water.
Well Water? Check With Us First
The OnliSoft and OnliSoft Pro are designed primarily for municipal (city) water. If you're on well water, please contact RKIN before purchasing or installing. Well water chemistry varies widely, and we want to make sure your system is the right fit. We may recommend additional pre-treatment depending on your water test results.
Operating Specifications
- Water Temperature: 36°F – 120°F (2°C – 49°C)
- Water Pressure: 25 – 80 PSI
- pH Range: 6.5 – 10
Operating outside these ranges can damage the system or reduce performance. If your water pressure is too high, install a pressure reducing valve. If it's too low, a booster pump may be needed.
